End of Year!

Well its nearly that time of year again, and what a goodie it has been! The students of Room 11 have had a fantastic year, and we are looking forward to a mush deserved wee break over Christmas. We have our school swim coming up on Friday, and next week we have our final assembly, in which six of the class will be receiving Excellence Certificates. This week brings to an end our Amazing Race, and this year I have been super pleased with the High standard of work/research produced by the students, and also the cooperation shown to produced the Road Blocks each week, well done!
Each student will receive their End of Year Report on the last day, or it will be posted to each child's home address.
All the Best for the last couple of weeks, and I look forward to completing the year with such a fantastic bunch of Kids

Term 3 in Room 11

Howdy All, hope you had a super break, and that you have all survived the Snow? The weather has been great the last couple of days, and this has meant we have been able to really prepare our selves for the School Cross Country on the 26th of August. All the class members have increased their own personal fitness levels and I'm sure will be pleased at well they perform for their respective Houses.
This Term we have been very fortunate to welcome a new Class member to the Room 11 Team in Eric! Also we welcome back Jay who has returned from a wee stint in Korea.
Have been super pleased with the class learning about the Human Body, and many in the class can list/show/and describe the main bones, muscles and systems of the Body. Awesome work!

Welcome Back!

Hello there and welcome back to all students and followers of Room 11, 2011. After a super busy Term 1, we are straight back into it this Term, kicking off with Mega Math Month. This is our focus of improving our knowledge and speed of basic facts. The students will be bringing home information about the focus and how we can all help with gaining a better understanding of Times tables.
We will also be cracking in to our Discovery topic for this term which has a science focus. The Science and Technology fair will be our inquiry and this is always exciting for the Students.

Cheers

Larissa, with her winning Farm Day Pack!

Term 1 Update!

Kiaora, friends, family and followers of Room 11. Well what a fantastic term we have had here in Room 11 so far. The students have been super busy, and in doing so have produced some excellent examples of learning. Over the last week or our class have be cranking into their ASPIRE inquires and have been creating a super understanding of how the ASPIRE processes help us to structure our projects. We all look forward to the class presenting their inquires to us next week.
Last week we were fortunate to have a visit to the Early Settlers Museum and Chinese Gardens. The class got to see first hand many examples of Otago and New Zealand history. Thanks again to those Parents who were able to help on this day.
Well this Term has flown by, and still we have lots to do, so keep at it!
Regards

Hello Hello!

Kiaora and welcome to Room 11, here at Balmacewen Intermediate. I hope you have had a great holiday break.

My full name is Mr Billy Napier and this is my 3rd full year teaching at Balmacewen. It is the best school to teach at because of our wonderful Staff, grounds, and of course the Students.

I know that we will have a great year in 2011, because I will be working hard to plan interesting and exciting activities for you. I hope to make sure that you have a classroom environment that is not only fun but a place you want to be in. I have very high expectations in all aspects of our classroom. This means I expect you to do your best at all times, to keep up to date with all class leaning and home-tasks, and most importantly to develop the maturity and social skills to respect yourself, others and the class environment.

You will have lots of opportunities to join some sports teams and take part in cultural activities like choir, music and the Kapa Haka group. Make the most of these activities as they are a great way to get to know other people from other classes and are heaps of fun. Ask me if there is anything in particular that you want to join. Many students are often too shy to join up and wished they had. So don’t miss out.

Term 1 is going to be a very busy term, for example we have swimming beginning soon and we will be heading to Waihola for a three day camp on Monday 21st February! A letter regarding cost, times and an indication of parent help will be sent home within the next day or two. We also have a school “Meet the Teacher” night on Wednesday 9th February. This gives parents the opportunity to meet me and the view our classroom.

By now you will have had a wee look around the school, and have started to make some new friends. Remember that if you are having any problems don’t hesitate to come and see me as, I understand it can be a little overwhelming! I look forward to getting to know you all better over the rest of the term and to having an awesome year in Room 11.
