Term 4 - Communication

Hello there followers and welcome back to the wonderful Room 11 Students. We are really looking forward to Term 4 and have begun to realize the importance of its content in completing what has been a successful year for many students. Our Topic for the term is 'Communication' and already we have been developing and practicing effective ways in which we can display this. We have also had a focus on certain skills like 'Thinking' and have been incorporating them into activities such as team Sports and general class room behavior. Stay tuned for more of our class action!

Matariki Day

Term Three 'Change'!

Kiaora and welcome to to all our wonderful followers of Room 11 in 2012. We have had a busy, but great year so far, with many students producing some excellent work. An example of this was all the hard work put in to create, develop and produce an investigation for our Term Two School Science and Technology Fair. This was a great experience for the students and they should be proud of what they discovered. A special well done to Jeannie and James who achieved a Highly Commended for their efforts. Term Three is well under way and we have already started to learn about the Human Body and all the systems that make us who we are. I'm sure within the next couple of weeks the students will have become real experts. Another highlight so far has been some 'educational' reading sessions based around our Grossology Series. We have been learning the relevant and technical information about such topics as Poop, Barf and Boogers. The best thing being the Students really beginning to use the correct terminology. Keep up the Awesome work Room 11!

Middle of the Term!

Kiaora folks, hard to believe that we are half way through Term One already,,! Seems like just yesterday we were all here for the first day. I saying that, what a great term we have had so far, the Students have included themselves brilliantly into Balmac life and have made some super friendships. We have many adventures and trips coming up which includes; Interviews, Early Settlers Trip, and our Waihola Camp. A massive thanks again to the lucky parents who will be helping us with this. Thanks also for returning all the 'paper work' that has been issued lately, it is essential for our trips to happen. Take Care, and bring on the rest of Term One, going to be good times!

Welcome to Students, Family and Friends of Room 11!

Tuesday 31st January 2012

Kiaora and welcome to Room 11, here at Balmacewen Intermediate. I hope you have had a great holiday break.

My full name is Mr Billy Napier and this is my 4th full year teaching at Balmacewen. It is the best school to teach at because of our wonderful Staff, grounds, and of course the Students.

I know that we will have a great year in 2012, because I will be working hard to plan interesting and exciting activities for you. I hope to make sure that you have a classroom environment that is not only fun but a place you want to be in. I have very high expectations in all aspects of our classroom. This means I expect you to do your best at all times, to keep up to date with all class leaning and home-tasks, and most importantly to develop the maturity and social skills to respect yourself, others and the class environment.

You will have lots of opportunities to join some sports teams and take part in cultural activities like choir, music and the Kapa Haka group. Make the most of these activities as they are a great way to get to know other people from other classes and are heaps of fun. Ask me if there is anything in particular that you want to join. Many students are often too shy to join up and wished they had. So don’t miss out.

Term 1 is going to be a very busy term, for example we have swimming beginning soon and we will be heading to Waihola for a three day camp on Monday 19th March! A letter regarding cost, times and an indication of parent help will be sent home within the next week or two. We also have a school “Meet the Teacher” night on Wednesday 8th February. This gives parents the opportunity to meet me and the view our classroom.

By now you will have had a wee look around the school, and have started to make some new friends. Remember that if you are having any problems don’t hesitate to come and see me as, I understand it can be a little overwhelming! I look forward to getting to know you all better over the rest of the term and to having an awesome year in Room 11.
